Gaia provides a well managed after-care facility, which is as popular with our pupils as the convenience which it provides to their parents. Activities are based primarily around play, but with a strong emphasis on arts and crafts. Children are rarely in a hurry to leave as teachers provide a loving and stimulating aftercare environment.
Nombulelo Ndimande ran a community Aftercare facility, before joining the Gaia School in 1999 as an Aftercare Assistant. Nombulelo has run the Gaia Aftercare facility for 11 years. She received her Certificate in Waldorf Educare in 2002 and is presently studying towards the Level 5 Advanced Certificate. Nombulelo has a son in Class 10 at Michael Oak Waldorf School who completed his schooling at Gaia, a son at Khanyisa Waldorf School and a grandson in Class 3 at Gaia.
Mamoeti Mgxekwa joined the school in 1999 as an Aftercare Assistant. She received her Certificate in Waldorf Educare in 2002 and her Advanced Certificate in Educare in 2007. Mamoeti is the Kindergarten and Aftercare assistant teacher. Her daughter is in Class 11 at the Constantia Waldorf School.
Zoleka Sandlana worked at Childminders Educare in her community for one year and also as a childminder in Hout Bay for 9 years. In 2007 she joined Waldorf Education at the Centre for Creative Education and completed her Level 5 Certificate in Early Childhood Development in 2008. She is presently studying for the advanced certificate. Zoleka joined Gaia in 2008 as Playgroup assistant as well as Aftercare assistant teacher. She has a granddaughter attending Kingergarten at Gaia.
Hilary Prens joined Gaia in 2010 as the second Aftercare Teacher. She received her N4 & N5 in Early Childhood Development in 2007 & 2008. Thereafter she worked at a pre-school teacher for a year before relocating to Cape Town in 2009. Hilary has a son in Class 3.
